Volunteer Job: Cat Room Cleaner/Socializer (Lynnwood, Woodinville Shoreline or Tukwila PetsMart)
Location Everett PETsMART next to the Everett Mall, Lynnwood PETsMART on Hwy 99 and Woodinville PETsMART.
Purpose To maintain the overall cleanliness of the cat cages in the cat adoption room. Volunteers clean cat cages, wash and disinfect feeding bowls and litter pans. Maintain cleanliness of litter pans while interacting with the cats. Observe, groom and socialize the cats. Interact with the public and answer any questions.
Requirements Cleaning requires frequent bending and occasional lifting. Excellent communication and people skills. Comfortable handling cats.
Duties
• Clean all cat cages, clean and refill litter boxes and feeding dishes as needed.
• Maintain the overall cleanliness of the cat room: scoop or change litter boxes as needed.
.• Check to make sure bedding is fresh and dry and replace if a cat has spilled its water and soaked it.
• Clean and organize the cat supply area - refold and organize cat blankets and bedding, sweep and mop the floor as needed.
• Clean windows and glass on doors in the visiting rooms.
• Ensure that any visiting clients use hand sanitizer before and after handling a cat.
• Assist the public and answer any questions they may have. Direct the public to our Purrfect Pals brochures, newsletters and volunteer applications if interested
• Socialize and groom the cats after cleaning is completed. Observe and note cat behavior on the daily log sheet. Provide catnip and toys to all kitties.
