Volunteer Job: Adoption Counselor (Lynnwood PETsMART, Woodinville PETsMART, Shoreline or Tukwila PETsMART)
Location Everett, Lynnwood or Woodinville PETsMART Partner Adoption Facilities
Purpose To assist the public with all adoption procedures including greeting upon arrival, providing adoption questionnaires, screening and performing the adoption process. To educate new guardians about the importance of proper care/diet/ toys/housing for their new cat. To maintain the overall cleanliness of the adoption room and socialize/interact with the cats.
Requirements Love of cats and kittens. Excellent people and communication skills and ability to represent Purrfect Pals in an accurate and positive manner.
Duties
• Assist the public: Greet guests and potential adopters , answer questions, provide them with the adoption questionnaire, screen and process all adoptions.
• Oversee meeting between potential guardian and cat to ensure proper handling and a good match.
• Answer questions about individual animals for potential guardians and customers.
• Socialize adoption room cats; make notes and observations on their daily log sheet
• Maintain the overall cleanliness of the cat room. Scoop or change litter boxes as needed, refill water and provide cats with toys/catnip.
• Direct the public to the Purrfect Pals brochures, newsletters and volunteer brochures if interested.
Whenever there is time, you can assist with any of the following duties to help us maintain overall cleanliness:
• Wash litter pans and food dishes as needed. Fill litter barrel.
• Clean and organize the cat supply area - refold and organize cat blankets and bedding etc.
