Volunteer Job: General Cleaner-Adoption Room
Location Arlington shelter
Purpose To provide assistance in the day-to-day cleaning of the main adoption room of the shelter. Clean occupied cat cages, replace bedding, clean and refill feeding dishes and litter pans. Volunteers may socialize cats when time is available.
Requirements Cleaning cages involves repetitious bending and lifting and volunteers are exposed to non-toxic cleaning agents such as Trifectant.
Duties
• Clean litter pans, food and water bowls and portable cat carriers per standard procedures
• Clean cat cages according to cleaning protocols
• Assist staff in feeding cats per standard procedures
• Wash, fold and put away laundry
• Sweep and mop floors, clean windows, doors and walls as needed
• Refill litter and food tubs as needed
• Restock canned cat food as needed
• Ensure laundry area and adoption rooms are clean and swept
• Refill litter tubs: must be able to lift 40lbs
• Assist with other duties as needed
