Volunteer Job: Adoption Counselor
Location Arlington shelter
Purpose To assist the public with all adoption procedures including greeting upon arrival, providing adoption questionnaires, screening and performing the adoption process. To educate new guardians about the importance of proper care/diet/ toys/housing for their new cat. To maintain the overall cleanliness of the adoption room and socialize/interact with the cats.
Requirements Love of cats. Excellent people and communication skills. The ability to represent Purrfect Pals in an accurate and positive manner.
Duties
• Assist the public :Greet guests and potential adopters , answer questions, provide them with the adoption questionnaire, screen and process all adoptions
• Oversee meeting between potential guardian and cat to ensure proper handling and a good match
• Answer questions about individual animals for potential guardians and guests.
• Socialize and groom adoption room cats; make notes and observations on their daily log sheet
• Ensure all cats have fresh water and dry bedding. Refill water and food bowls as needed.
• Maintain the overall cleanliness of the cat room. Scoop or change litter boxes as needed.
• Sweep the floor clean of litter or food periodically.
